Our favorite faith-based Easter traditions and activities
👪️ Easter traditions for your family
Resurrection Eggs
Create 12 plastic eggs, each filled with a small symbol of Jesus’ journey to the cross (e.g., a thorn, a coin, a cross). Each egg corresponds with a Bible verse that tells part of the Easter story.
Passover-Inspired Meal
Host a simplified Passover meal and connect the symbolism to Jesus as the Lamb of God.
Easter Story Garden
Plant flowers while sharing the story of Jesus' resurrection. Use seeds to symbolize new life and renewal.
Lenten Countdown Cross
Create a cross with 40 spaces (one for each day of Lent) and let kids color a section each day as they reflect, pray, or read a Bible verse.
Good Friday Family Reflection
Dim the lights, read the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, and reflect quietly as a family.
Sunrise Service or Family Devotional
Attend a local sunrise service or gather your family early on Easter morning to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection.
The Empty Tomb Craft
Use a paper plate or clay to create an empty tomb, symbolizing the stone rolled away.
Baking ‘Resurrection Rolls’
These sweet rolls are hollow inside to represent Jesus’ empty tomb. Wrap a marshmallow in crescent roll dough, bake, and watch the marshmallow “disappear.”
📖 Bible-focused activities for kids
Easter Story Scavenger Hunt
Create a scavenger hunt where each clue reveals a different part of the Easter story (e.g., a small wooden cross, a stone, a cloth).
Crown of Thorns Craft
Use playdough or twisted grapevine to create a crown of thorns, and reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice.
Scripture Egg Hunt
Hide eggs with Bible verses inside that highlight the Easter story. Each egg opens with a discussion point about Jesus’ death and resurrection.
‘He is Risen’ Banner
Create a family banner or sign that declares "He is Risen!" and display it prominently.
Acts of Kindness Countdown
In the week leading up to Easter, encourage kids to complete one kind act daily to reflect Jesus’ love.

What does Jesus’ resurrection mean for moms?
What does Jesus’ resurrection mean for moms? Everything. But we’re going to zero in on one key point today: Your worth and identity.
Motherhood often comes with moments of self-doubt, when you feel unseen, overwhelmed, or question if you’re doing enough. Jesus’ resurrection speaks directly to those feelings, reminding us that our worth isn’t measured by how perfectly we parent or how much we accomplish in a day; it’s rooted in what Jesus has already done for us.
Jesus willingly endured suffering and death so that we could experience forgiveness, freedom, and eternal life. His resurrection is the ultimate declaration that we are cherished and valued, not because of what we do, but because of who we are in Him.
For moms, this truth is powerful. On days when you feel like you’re failing — when the laundry is piled high, the kids are melting down, and you’re running on fumes — remember that your value isn’t tied to those moments. Jesus’ resurrection is proof that you’re already loved beyond measure.
This truth brings freedom: You don’t have to strive for perfection or carry the burden of doing everything on your own. Instead, you can rest in the assurance that God’s grace fills the gaps in your parenting, your marriage, your home, and your heart.
So this Easter, let the empty tomb be a reminder that your identity is secure in Christ — loved, redeemed, and treasured by the One who conquered death to call you His own.
