Take a deep breath, Momma
There’s something about summer that forces us to slow down, whether we like it or not. Bedtimes blur. Schedules loosen. The days stretch long and sticky, filled with mismatched swimsuits, sandy car seats, and popsicles before lunch. (Because why not?)
As moms, we often feel the pressure to make every moment “magical,” but sometimes the most meaningful memories come from the ordinary ones: reading books in a shady spot, letting your kid dig for worms while you drink your third iced coffee, or saying yes to a second round of sprinklers even though it means more towels to wash.
And through it all, God invites us to be present, not perfect. Summer isn’t just a season to survive; it’s a sacred pause. A chance to reconnect with our kids, with creation, and with the gentle reminder that rest is holy too.
So if your days feel both too full and too slow, take heart. You’re not behind — you’re right on time. And even if no one’s brushing their hair and the floor is covered in watermelon rinds… grace is here, and it’s enough.

ONE LAST THING
A masterclass in discipleship
One of the most challenging yet crucial aspects of Christian parenting is discipleship. Fortunately, we have a roadmap and tons of examples in Scripture. Here’s some from Deuteronomy 6:
“These are the commands, decrees and laws the Lord your God directed me to teach you to observe in the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess, so that you, your children and their children after them may fear the Lord your God as long as you live by keeping all his decrees and commands that I give you, and so that you may enjoy long life. Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you.
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down, and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.”
It reads like a laundry list, but if you zoom out a bit, it’s describing a lifestyle. We are to essentially ooze discipleship and use every moment of our day to show our children Jesus.
